Privacy Policy

What this website collects when you visit, write to us or sign up for news, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

We run this website. If anything here is unclear, write to us at hello@marquishaandco.com.

What we collect

When you write to us. The Get in Touch form asks for your first and last name, your email address, what you’re interested in, and your message. Please leave out sensitive personal or health information; we can talk about that when we connect.

When you sign up for news. The newsletter form asks only for your email address.

If you have a member account. The member area keeps your name, your email address and your password. Your password is stored in a scrambled form that can’t be turned back into the password itself.

When you browse. Our website host, Ploy, measures how the site is used. It records the pages you visit, the website or page that brought you here, how far you scroll, the buttons and links you click, and when you start or send a form (never what you type into it), along with your browser type, language and screen size. Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages also receive your device’s IP address, which can show your general location.

Cookies and browser storage

This site keeps a few small pieces of information in your browser:

  • ploy_anon_id: a random ID that lets our host’s analytics recognize a returning browser. It lasts up to a year.
  • ploy_session: groups the pages of one visit. It ends after 30 minutes without activity.
  • __cf_bm: a security cookie from Cloudflare, the network our host uses, that helps tell people from automated traffic. It lasts 30 minutes.
  • mq-motion: remembers that you paused the moving parts of the site. It never leaves your device.
  • A sign-in cookie, only if you sign in to the member area, so that you stay signed in.

We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t let advertising networks or other companies track your activity across websites through this site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. The pages still work without them, although the member area needs its sign-in cookie.

How we use it

  • To answer your message and, if we work together, to provide the services you ask for.
  • To send the news and updates you signed up for.
  • To run the member area.
  • To understand, in summary, how the site is used, so we can make it better.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the companies and people who help us run this website, and only so they can do that work:

  • our host, Ploy, which delivers the site, its forms, its analytics and member accounts (Ploy’s privacy policy);
  • Cloudflare, the network and security service Ploy uses (Cloudflare’s privacy policy);
  • the services we use for email and for our newsletter;
  • our web designer, who builds and looks after the site.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or when it’s needed to protect someone’s safety.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and sign-ups for as long as we need them to reply to you, to work with you and to keep our business records, or until you ask us to delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

  • See, correct or delete your information. Email hello@marquishaandco.com and tell us what you’d like. We may need to confirm it’s you first.
  • Stop the newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or write to us.
  • Cookies. Block or delete them in your browser’s settings.
  • Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no agreed standard for responding to it, and this site doesn’t currently change what it collects when it receives one.

Other websites

This site links to other websites, such as TikTok and YouTube. When you visit them, their own privacy policies apply.

Children

This website is meant for adults. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

Keeping your information safe

Every page is sent over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we limit who can see what you send us. No website or email is perfectly secure, so please don’t send sensitive information through the site.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top of the page.
